Lay Director’s Message
September 2009
Thank you to all who attended last month's Community meeting. What a wonderful time of worship through song we had with music team from the last Walk. Thank you, ladies, for ministering to our hearts. A big THANKS to Derrick for sharing his heart with us. The Emmaus Community also thanks you Derrick for answering the call to serve on each of those Walks. You are an encouragement to us all. Your board members are looking for ways to encourage community members to return to our monthly meetings. So, you all are invited to join us for some fellowship and grub on the 10th of September at 6:00pm. Bring some food and bring a member that has not been in awhile. We are also going to recognize the Walks from the first year of this community. We are asking for all team members as well as the pilgrims of these Walks to attend this month's meeting. This ought to be a great time. Our fourth day speaker will be a pilgrim from one of those Walks. The crosses from those Walks will be on display.
I would like ask you a true or false question. I do this do my class quite often and I usually get a true, a false, and a depends. So you decide. "Our love depends on the receiver of the love. Let a thousand people pass before you, and you will not feel the same about each. Your love will be regulated by their appearance, by their personalities. Even when you find a few people you like, your feelings will fluctuate. How they treat you will affect how you love them. The receiver regulates your love". Okay, I know that was long, but read it again. What do you think?
Here is another one. We put expectations on each other. (true or false). Our love for them is based on whether they meet those expectations. (true or false). Is our relationship with our Heavenly Father based on our expectations of what He should or should not do? God's LOVE is everlasting and has no expectations attached to it.
DeColores, Mark
Prayer Requests
- Please be in prayer as the board seeks to investigate alternative sites for walks in an effort to reduce costs.
- New board members will be elected in December. Please let a board member know if you are interested so your name can come before the nominating committee.
- Pray for reunions to bring back those who have dropped out of the community. We long to establish the old relationships and rebuild our community.
- Pray for the new community lay director who will lead the community next year.

2009 Walk's |
|
| |
At present, there are no dated walks, although Lorinda Herrod will be the director of a ladies’ walk in the spring and Maury Smith will lead the walk in the summer of 2010. Please be in prayer for the board as plans are made for the coming year.
Also, be in prayer for our community and yourselves as you seek leadership about sponsorship. You are essential to making walks work, because without your responsible sponsorship, there are no pilgrims. |

Name Tags
|
Jeanie Plaia is in charge of nametags. We have several which have not been picked up. Please check with Jeanie at the next community meeting.
Sponsors, be sure to order nametags for your pilgrims. |
|
Book Table
|
| Remember to take books for the book table to First Methodist Church or bring them to community. We will continue to supply our own book table. |
|
Community Needs
|
| In order to be more effective the community needs two laptops and LCD projectors for the music and powerpoint productions for walks.
The projectors and laptops will enable us to always have the music available by using a screen to project the words. They would also enable the Music Teams to be familiar with their own equipment and not have to depend on borrowed equipment.
If you can help, please designate your offering or contact a board member.

Community Info
Your board has actively been pursuing ideas to improve our community attendance.
The goal of Emmaus is to have a community driven ministry which strengthens Christian workers by the opportunity for fellowship and accountability and sends them back to their churches to be actively involved.
Walks are intended for the growth of Christian leaders and it is through community involvement that we are to continue that growth in the fourth days.
Please plan to attend the walk reunions scheduled for the next several community meetings and remember the new format of a covered dish supper.
We want to rebuild our community for the glory of God.
Please support the Candlelights & Community Meetings.
