Lay Director’s Message
August 2009

I would like to thank Randy and his family for once again taking us to the Throne Room of our Heavenly Father. Let’s remember them in prayer. They have been invited to be apart of the worship service at High Sky Community meeting at the end of August.

Thank you Jimmy for sharing what God layed on your heart. You left us with a lot to chew on.

I personally want to thank the board members. They all do a wonderful and thankless job. They want the best for this Community and their efforts show that. We have been working on recognizing the "Walks" of the first year for Signal Mountain. The plan is to do this next month. We could really use your help in contacting individuals that were pilgrims and workers of these Walks. We would like for you to come and celebrate with us. We are also planning next month to have a fellowship before the community meeting. Bring some food and we'll put it all together and share with each other. This will start at 6:00. I know we have some great cooks out there. Even if you have no time to cook, swing by and pick up some grub and join us.

I would like to talk about relationships If you don't mind.  Write down the names of individuals that populate your circle of the world. What role do

these individuals play in your life? Are these individuals valuable to you? Are they essential? Are these relationships worth whatever it takes to keep them healthy? I would guess you probably answered "yes" to most of these questions. Now, how many relationships from your list do you find it a struggle to make work? (none or maybe one)

How much would you say expectations play a part in the success of our relationships?  Don't we let those on our list know that we expect them to live up to our expectations if they want this relationship to be successful? Do we do the same in our relationship with Jesus? Does the success of our relationship with our Lord depend on whether He fulfills our expectations? What do you expect from Jesus?  Ask yourself this, "Does the way I treat people reflect the way God has treated me". Oh, by the way, how many had Jesus on your list?

2009 Walk's

At present, there are no dated walks, although Lorinda Herrod will be the director of a ladies’ walk in the spring and Maury Smith will lead the walk in the summer of  2010. Please be in prayer for the board as plans are made for the coming year.

Also, be in prayer for our community and yourselves as you seek leadership about sponsorship. You are essential to making walks work, because without your responsible sponsorship, there are no pilgrims.

Name Tags

Jeanie Plaia is in charge of nametags. We have several which have not been picked up. Please check with Jeanie at the next community meeting.

Sponsors, be sure to order nametags for your pilgrims.
Book Table
Remember to take books for the book table to First Methodist Church or bring them to community. We will continue to supply our own book table.
Community Needs
In order to be more effective the community needs two laptops and LCD projectors for the music and powerpoint productions for walks.

The projectors and laptops will enable us to always have the music available by using a screen to project the words. They would also enable the Music Teams to be familiar with their own equipment and not have to depend on borrowed equipment.

If you can help, please designate your offering or contact a board member.

Community Info

Your board has actively been pursuing ideas to improve our community attendance.

The goal of Emmaus is to have a community driven ministry which strengthens Christian workers by the opportunity for fellowship and accountability and sends them back to their churches to be actively involved.

Walks are intended for the growth of Christian leaders and it is through community involvement that we are to continue that growth in the fourth days.

Please plan to attend the walk reunions scheduled for the next several community meetings and remember the new format of a covered dish supper.

We want to rebuild our community for the glory of God.

Please support the Candlelights & Community Meetings.

Walk 1 & 2 Reunion

The community would like to recognize all team and members of Walks 1 & 2 at the September Community Meeting. Please plan to come for this celebration of the first walks our community sponsored.

Lay Directors, please bring your crosses to display.

Covered Dish Supper

Remember that starting in September, Community meetings will begin at 6:00 with a covered dish supper and fellowship time.

What a wonderful opportunity to fellowship and renew old friendships, especially with the walk reunions beginning.
