Lay Director’s Message
December Christmas Program
Volunteers Needed
As you know, every Christmas the community has a song service with special music to celebrate the holiday season.
It is impossible for this to happen without the support of the community. We need you to sing, play, hum if that’s the only talent you have. It’s all about presenting the gift of praise to Him at this special time of the year.
If you will participate, please email Scott Van Pelt at hogwild@basin-net.net or call him aat 816-9005. He will be delighted to hear from you and it will take the pressure off of him at this busy time of the year.
Thanksgiving Meeting and Covered Dish Supper
We will have a covered dish supper at 6:00 at Hillcrest Baptist Church on Thusday November 12.
Bring a dish and an appetite and enjoy the fellowship. There has been a sweet spirit at the community meetings with the reunion from past walks. Thanks to Joanne Sayles and Raylene Daniels for the letters and information that have gone out to former pilgrims and team members.
We will be celebrating Walks 5 and 6 at this month’s reunion so please plan to come and renew your commitment to Emmaus and to the Fourth Days ahead.
Walks for 2010
At this writing the dates have not been forward on to me, but we know we have a women’s walk in March with Lorinda Herrod as the director and one in the summer for men with Maury Smith as director.
Community, it is imperative that you take up the torch and invite people to take part in these walks. The community can not afford to finance another walk that is not full.
One of the joys of Emmaus is that of seeing the changed lives that come from attending a walk. Be at community to find out the exact dates.
Remember that sponsorship is a commitment to not only get people of the walk, but to disciple them into community and reunion groups. Pray diligently about whom God would lead you to sponsor.
Prayer Requests
- Please be in prayer as the board seeks to investigate alternative sites for walks in an effort to reduce costs.
- New board members will be elected in December. Please let a board member know if you are interested so your name can come before the nominating committee.
- Pray for reunions to bring back those who have dropped out of the community. We long to establish the old relationships and rebuild our community.
- Pray for the new community lay director who will lead the community next year.

Name Tags
|
Jeanie Plaia is in charge of nametags. We have several which have not been picked up. Please check with Jeanie at the next community meeting.
Sponsors, be sure to order nametags for your pilgrims. |
|
Book Table
|
| Remember to take books for the book table to First Methodist Church or bring them to community. We will continue to supply our own book table. |
|
Community Needs
|
| In order to be more effective the community needs two laptops and LCD projectors for the music and powerpoint productions for walks.
The projectors and laptops will enable us to always have the music available by using a screen to project the words. They would also enable the Music Teams to be familiar with their own equipment and not have to depend on borrowed equipment.
If you can help, please designate your offering or contact a board member.

Community Info
Your board has actively been pursuing ideas to improve our community attendance.
The goal of Emmaus is to have a community driven ministry which strengthens Christian workers by the opportunity for fellowship and accountability and sends them back to their churches to be actively involved.
Walks are intended for the growth of Christian leaders and it is through community involvement that we are to continue that growth in the fourth days.
Please plan to attend the walk reunions scheduled for the next several community meetings and remember the new format of a covered dish supper.
We want to rebuild our community for the glory of God.
Please support the Candlelights & Community Meetings.
