Lay Director’s Message
July 2010

Every month I think that it just can’t get any better than this.  And then the Lord shows up and does it again.  I pray you were all as blessed and refreshed as I was.

Be sure and jot down Isaiah 41:10 and keep it close.  It will encourage you and can be used as a mighty weapon against the evil one.  Do not dismay for I am with you!!  I told my Sunday School class today that speaking the Word of God to the devil is like throwing water on the Wicked Witch. Good, huh?!

Thanks to all who shared in the honoring of the 2004 Walks #s 35-37, LDs Patty Schuelke, Clarence Palmer, and Donna Wennik.  I enjoyed hearing the memories that were shared by the teams and pilgrims.  In July we will honor WW #38, LD Susan Skelton, MW #39, LD Joe Wennik, and WW #40, LD Kay Pittman.

Jim Wilson blessed us with a Fourth Day talk on turning it over to God.  I don’t think there was an unaffected person in the room.  Thanks Jim for stepping all over our toes.  We all need a good shaking up now and then.

Please continue to support Men’s Walk #55. You will have one last chance to sign up for Agape Needs at the July meeting.  Please be faithful to supply the thing(s) you have signed up for.  Non-perishables can be taken to Slaton Insurance between 8a and 5pm, Mon-Fri, 205 W. 15th St. We need to receive your pilgrim applications as timely as possible.  Please don’t wait until the last minute.  Please also pray for Terry Nichols and the team.   Also, please mark you calendars and plan to attend Send Off, Candlelight and Closing.

We are still looking for a Lay Director for the 2011 Men’s Walk.  We do have a man seeking the Lord’s guidance in this, so please pray for and with him.

I want to thank you all so much for your support with the purchase of an overhead projector.  We collected $1,058, which is enough to purchase one new projector for the Conference Room and a second refurbished projector and laptop computer and a large screen for the Tabernacle to use at Candlelight.  Your generosity covered our immediate need and our wish list, too.

Thank you for your faithfulness.  I love you all so much!!

DeColores!

What is Chrysalis Before it becomes a butterfly, a caterpillar goes through a growth stage during which it is called a "chrysalis." On the surface it may not look like much is happening, but the delicate chrysalis process changes the fuzzy caterpillar into an awesome butterfly with wings of intricate designs and intense colors. The chrysalis process symbolizes how Christ can transform you into something beyond your dreams. It happens when you grow beyond yourself, opening your life to Jesus' power and love.

Important Notice

Prayer Requests
  • Please be in prayer as the board seeks to investigate alternative sites for walks in an effort to reduce costs.
  • New board members will be elected in December. Please let a board member know if you are interested so your name can come before the nominating committee.
  • Pray for reunions to bring back those who have dropped out of the community. We long to establish the old relationships and rebuild our community.
  • Pray for the new community lay director who will lead the community next year.
Name Tags

Scott Jimenez has graciously agreed to take orders for SMEC Name Tags. The cost is $7. If you would like to order Name Tags please see Scott at the January meeting, please also plan to pay for the Name Tags in advance.

Sponsors, be sure to order nametags for your pilgrims.

Book Table
Remember to take books for the book table to First Methodist Church or bring them to community. We will continue to supply our own book table.
Community Needs
In order to be more effective the community needs two laptops and LCD projectors for the music and powerpoint productions for walks.

The projectors and laptops will enable us to always have the music available by using a screen to project the words. They would also enable the Music Teams to be familiar with their own equipment and not have to depend on borrowed equipment.

If you can help, please designate your offering or contact a board member.

Sincere Gratitude Sincere thanks to those who have made possible the purchase of equipment for Signal Mountain Emmaus. Continued generosity will allow for a wish list to be fulfilled.

Community Info

Your board has actively been pursuing ideas to improve our community attendance.

The goal of Emmaus is to have a community driven ministry which strengthens Christian workers by the opportunity for fellowship and accountability and sends them back to their churches to be actively involved.

Walks are intended for the growth of Christian leaders and it is through community involvement that we are to continue that growth in the fourth days.

Please plan to attend the walk reunions scheduled for the next several community meetings and remember the new format of a covered dish supper.

We want to rebuild our community for the glory of God.

Please support the Candlelights & Community Meetings.
