Lay Director’s Message
February 2010

It was such a blessing to see so many around the tables at dinner. The room was filled with laughter and lively conversation. The sea of smiling faces that were gathered together to praise and worship our Lord was pure joy.
Hasn’t it been fun to honor the past Walks and see those Teams and Pilgrims together again? To see the righteous pride shine in the eyes of the Lay Directors one more time. I pray you all had so much fun, you’ll come back again and again.
Thanks to Stacy Armstrong for a stirring Fourth Day Talk on taming the tongue. It was inspiring Stacy, thanks again.
Please continue to pray for Pilgrims you might sponsor for Women’s Walk #54, March 4-7 and Men’s Walk #51 July 15-18. Please also be in prayer for Lorinda Herrod as she prepares her team for the upcoming Women’s Walk.
I love you all so much.

DeColores!

Prayer Requests

  • Please be in prayer as the board seeks to investigate alternative sites for walks in an effort to reduce costs.
  • New board members will be elected in December. Please let a board member know if you are interested so your name can come before the nominating committee.
  • Pray for reunions to bring back those who have dropped out of the community. We long to establish the old relationships and rebuild our community.
  • Pray for the new community lay director who will lead the community next year.
2010 Walk's

At present, there are no dated walks, although Lorinda Herrod will be the director of a ladies’ Women's Walk 54 on March 4-7 in the spring and Maury Smith will lead the Mens Walk 51 on July 15-18 in the summer of  2010. Please be in prayer for the board as plans are made for the coming year.

Also, be in prayer for our community and yourselves as you seek leadership about sponsorship. You are essential to making walks work, because without your responsible sponsorship, there are no pilgrims.

Name Tags

Scott Jimenez is in charge of Name tags, Please check with Scott at the next community meeting.

Sponsors, be sure to order nametags for your pilgrims.
Book Table
Remember to take books for the book table to First Methodist Church or bring them to community. We will continue to supply our own book table.
Community Needs
In order to be more effective the community needs two laptops and LCD projectors for the music and powerpoint productions for walks.

The projectors and laptops will enable us to always have the music available by using a screen to project the words. They would also enable the Music Teams to be familiar with their own equipment and not have to depend on borrowed equipment.

If you can help, please designate your offering or contact a board member.

Community Info

Your board has actively been pursuing ideas to improve our community attendance.

The goal of Emmaus is to have a community driven ministry which strengthens Christian workers by the opportunity for fellowship and accountability and sends them back to their churches to be actively involved.

Walks are intended for the growth of Christian leaders and it is through community involvement that we are to continue that growth in the fourth days.

Please plan to attend the walk reunions scheduled for the next several community meetings and remember the new format of a covered dish supper.

We want to rebuild our community for the glory of God.

Please support the Candlelights & Community Meetings.

Calling all Past Lay Director's:

As you know, we are honoring past Walks at Community Gatherings.  We need Team and Pilgrim lists from all Walks held 2000 and forward.  (Preferably with addresses.)  Please send your lists to rickdan@suddenlink.net or mail them to Raylene Daniels, 2615 Cindy.  Thank you in advance for you immediate attention to this request.

What a wonderful opportunity to fellowship and renew old friendships, especially with the walk reunions beginning.
